On 2nd August our team headed over to Didcot Railway Museum with our handheld scanner in tow. It’s a place we’ve come to know well - we visit regularly to capture details from the museum’s amazing collection of railway artefacts.
For those who haven’t been, Didcot Railway Centre is home to a huge range of historic locomotives, carriages, wagons and railway memorabilia, all set within the original Great Western Railway engine shed. It’s a real treasure trove for anyone interested in railway history.
Using the Reality Scans app, we can take objects that are usually behind ropes and turn them into detailed 3D models. It’s always exciting watching the scans come together on screen, knowing they’ll soon be transformed into miniatures for our range.
Each visit is a mix of research, scanning and inspiration. Didcot is packed with character, and it’s a real privilege to have access to their collection. We left with plenty of new material to work from - watch this space for the next batch of authentic additions to our catalogue.
