Welcome

We are a new company based in Mid Wales specialising in high resolution 3D printing of scale figures and detailed component parts.

3D printing may be a new world to some, so we aim to make the experience as simple as possible, helping you to get the most out of your design or idea and realise its potential in physical form.

Should you have a requirement you would like to discuss, be it printing of a design you already have, a commission for a new item, or high resolution 3D body scanning, please get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.

3D Design

If you have a modelling project in mind that you think 3D printing might help with, but you don’t have the CAD knowledge to create your design, then we can help out.

We can work from photos, sketches or plans and drawings, but as a minimum, dimensions, basic sketches and additional notes help to give a clear starting point.

Projects for example can include architectural details, locomotive boiler fittings, signalling or lineside components, essentially any detailed custom part that you need.  3D printing can be the answer to repetitive scratch building tasks of complex and finely detailed components.

3D Body Scan

3D Body Scanning

Modelu’s portable 3D body scanning equipment can transport you into a world of miniature, putting you on the footplate of your favourite locomotive – the possibilities are endless.

If you’d like a 3D body scan for your own custom figure, Modelu will be at shows throughout the year, see the diary for details.  If you are a club or organisation interested in a group booking for 3D scanning, please get in touch.

3D Printing

Our 3D printing facility can offer some of the best print quality available, but there are also things it will not do and we’ll be up front about its limitations.  It is highly suited to small, complex and detailed designs and in all cases we aim to be helpful and honest about what the service can and can’t do, so send in your 3D STL file and we’ll be able to give feedback on whether it will be suitable for DLP printing.

For more information on build volumes see our 3D Printing page.
